Why is it important to recognize anomalies of the LRV and IVC?

1. Vessels have a rounded appearance on axial images and simulate the appearance of lymph nodes, especially on unenhanced and early-phase CT scans. One would not want to plan a biopsy of the left IVC.
2. Anomalous configuration of the IVC changes the approach to placement of IVC flters and renal surgery.
