What is hypoxic - ischemic encephalopathy?

Hypoxic or ischemic injury to the developing brain from any cause. The pattern of injury depends on the severity and timing of the insult during development. It may range from hydranencephaly to PVL (discussed later in the chapter) to migrational abnormality.
