What is the physiology behind the furosemide renogram?

The furosemide bolus will cause diuresis of nonradioactive urine into the collecting system in patients who respond to the drug. The nonradioactive urine will flush the radioactive urine out of dilated unob-structed collecting systems, while activity will remain if there is obstruction.
