What is the inverted teardrop sign?

The inverted teardrop sign occurs when silicone enters a radial fold and then leaks between the implant and the capsule. It is a nonspecific sign that may be seen with extensive gel bleed or focal intracapsular rupture. (Silicone gel may traverse an intact implant shell [bleed]. This occurs to some extent with most implants but may be extensive.)
