What are the radiographic features of fibrous dysplasia?
The radiographic appearance of fibrous dysplasia is highly variable. However, typically the lesions are radiolucent, irregular, marginated, and medullary, with a ground glass or soap bubble appearance and thick sclerotic borders. Bony expansion (i.e., cherubism, frontal bossing, leontiasis ossea) and bowing deformities (i.e., shepherd's crook deformity of the proximal femur) may also be seen.
