What is the zone of transition?
The margin of the lesion relative to adjacent normal bone. A narrow zone of transition refers to a sharp, well-circumscribed border that abruptly separates the lesion and adjacent bone (one could outline the margin with a pencil). A broad zone of transition refers to an indistinct, difficult-to-define boundary between the lesion and normal bone (implies an aggressive lesion).
