What is the typical location of osteosarcoma in the bone?

Osteosarcoma typically is near the ends of the bones, usually in the metaphyses of the long bones. The most common location is the femur, mostly around the knee (40% of cases). Approximately 30% of cases arise in either the tibia or humerus.
