What is a mortise view?

A mortise view is an oblique view at 20 degrees to 30 degrees internal rotation. At this angle, the medial and lateral malleoli are on the same plane; therefore, congruity of the talus in relation to the medial and lateral malleolus and tibial plafond can be evaluated.
