What is the technique for antegrade and retrograde pyelography?

Both are performed by directly injecting contrast material into the pelvicaliceal system and ureters.
For retrograde pyelography, a catheter is placed via cystoscopy into the ureteral orifice.
For antegrade pyelography, a needle is placed percutaneously into the kidney collecting system via the flank.
