Stone protocol CT without oral or IV contrast is the gold standard for initial evaluation of stone symptoms (hematuria and flank pain).

CT IVP has supplanted IVP for evaluation of kidneys, ureters, and bladder in patients suspected of neoplasia. Evaluation of tumors and adenopathy or renal abscess is best accomplished with CT.
