How are the MR sequences acquired and planned?

The scan begins with a transverse localizer image.

Vertical long axis (two-chamber long axis): perpendicular to the transverse localizer image, a parasagittal plane that bisects the mitral valve and intersects the left ventricular apex - planned off the transverse localizer image

Horizontal long-axis (four-chamber) view: perpendicular to the vertical long-axis image, a plane that intersects the lower third of the mitral valve and left ventricular apex - planned off a vertical long-axis image

Short-axis view: perpendicular to the horizontal long-axis image, a stack of slices that is also perpendicular to the long axis of the left ventricle (a line the intersects the mid mitral point and left ventricular apex)

Three chamber: a true coronal image through the aortic root from transverse images. Perpendicular to this coronal image, a plane is prescribed that is perpendicular to the aortic valve plane.
