What are the Doppler findings of hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy?
On color flow Doppler, the obstruction is manifested as a turbulent jet in the outflow tract. On spectral Doppler, increased velocity across the outflow tract gives a saber-toothed shape to the spectral tracing of the left ventricular outflow tract. Other findings include signs of diastolic dysfunction, a spike-and-dome appearance to the aortic pressure wave form, and mitral regurgitation as a result of systolic anterior motion of the mitral valve.
