How are radial scars managed?

Radial scars are proliferative lesions and can associate with atypia or DCIS missed by image-guided biopsies (sample error).
Small (Larger (>1cm) or radial scars with concerning imaging features can be excised to avoid missing areas of atypia or DCIS
Any radial scar with atypia on image-guided biopsy should be excised due to the known upgrade rate of atypia to malignancy of 18-20%.
