What is the optimal display protocol for interpretation of mammograms?

The images are viewed on a computer monitor. Often, the images are displayed initially in an 8 view format shown below. The MLO views are hung so that the axilla is at the top, and the CC views are displayed so that the lateral aspect is at the top. The current MLO views are displayed back to back and the current CC views are displayed back to back with the prior study (ideally at least 2 years prior) hung similarly along the top. Protocols can be created to display the images as the reading physician prefers.
