What must be done prior to the TIPS procedure?

History and physical examination
Endoscopy (to confirm varices as the source of gastrointestinal bleeding)
Doppler ultrasound.
CT or MRI (to confirm patency of the portal vein and evaluate vascular anatomy)
Correction of coagulopathy or thrombocytopenia
