What are the six steps in PTA?

1. Diagnostic angiogram
2. Systemic heparinization after the lesion is crossed (heparinize after crossing lesion in venous occlusions)
3. Crossing the lesion (i.e., placing the wire and then the catheter beyond the lesion)
4. Balloon inflation
5. Balloon deflation
6. Postprocedure angiogram and pressure measurements
