What are the limitations to the use of carbon dioxide?

Cannot be used in arterial vasculature above the diaphragm because of the risk of cerebral complications (seizures)
Must ensure that patient does not have a right-to-left shunt in the venous system Poorer image quality than with iodinated contrast
Increased radiation exposure to patient and operator
