1. Choose the proper vascular access site (femoral artery, mid femoral head, below the inguinal ligament).
2. Minimize the catheter size.
3. Use a vascular sheath if a pericatheter leak occurs.
4. Straighten catheters and guidewires on removal.
5. Apply firm manual compression for a minimum of 15 minutes.
6. Correct coagulopathy prior to the procedure.
7. Control hypertension.
8. Decrease procedure time.
