What causes an enlarged sella turcica?

The most common causes are intrasellar tumor and parasellar tumor with extension into the sella. Other causes include increased ICP (the third ventricle bulges into the sella), empty sella syndrome, Nelson’s syndrome (pituitary gland hyperplasia after an adrenalectomy), and hypothyroidism.
