What is DDH?

Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) is recurrent subluxation or dislocation of the hip secondary to acetabular dysplasia, abnormal ligamentous laxity, or both. The two components of acetabular dysplasia are increased acetabular angle and a shallow acetabular fossa. Chronic dislocation of the femoral head leads to exacerbated growth deformity of the acetabular fossa.
