What is the appearance of the ovaries in polycystic ovary syndrome on ultrasound?

Bilateral enlargement.
Increased echogenicity of the fibrous central stroma
Multiple peripheral follicles (none ever mature)
The ovaries may also appear normal on ultrasound.
