How should patients be instructed to care for the PICC line?

Flush the catheter frequently (after each use and every 12 hours) with 10 mL of saline followed by 2 mL of heparin (100 U/mL) in each lumen.
Change the dressing frequently.
Keep the line clamped and capped.
Seek medical attention if problems develop.
