Usually, only longstanding hypertension results in radiographic signs, which may include concentric left ventricular hypertrophy in response to an increased afterload, aortic dilation (convexity of the upper right cardiac border and enlargement of the aortic knob), and calcification of the aorta and coronary arteries (in patients with arteriosclerosis).
