What musculoskeletal findings on CXR may be useful in cardiac diagnosis?

1. Sternal or rib deformities, wires, surgical clips, or the absence of ribs may suggest a prior surgical procedure.            
2. Pectus excavatum may be associated with Marfan’s syndrome and mitral valve prolapse.            
3. Rib notching, caused by dilated subcostal arteries, may be seen in aortic coarctation and other types of CHD.
