List four cardiac manifestations of blunt cardiac trauma.

List four cardiac manifestations of blunt cardiac trauma.

1. Cardiac contusion, the most common manifestation of blunt cardiac trauma, may mimic myocardial infarction clinically and biochemically.
2. Traumatic rupture of the chordae or papillary muscles may lead to acute valvular insufficiency and pulmonary edema.
3. Disruption of the tricuspid valve leads to tricuspid regurgitation; it is fairly common.
4. Aortic dissection leads to aortic insufficiency and possibly pericardial effusion.
