What are the possible routes of extension of an aortic root abscess?

From the left coronary cusp, the infection may extend to the anterior mitral leaflet, the left atrium, and the interatrial septum. From the right coronary cusp, the infection may spread to the membranous and muscular portions of the interventricular septum. From there it may invade the right ventricle and the right ventricular outflow tract. From the noncoronary cusp, the infection may extend into the interventricular septum or right atrium.
