Describe the pathophysiology of VSD.

In VSD, oxygenated blood is shunted from the left ventricle to the right ventricle, causing volume overload of the right ventricle and the pulmonary circuit. The arterial oxygen tension (PaO2) of the right side of the heart is also elevated.
