How does the size of an adenomatous polyp correlate with the likelihood of developing cancer?

Polyps with a diameter of less than 1 cm are associated with a 1% risk of cancer; those with a diameter of 1–2 cm are associated with a 10% risk of cancer; and those with a diameter of more than 2 cm are associated with a 25% to 50% risk of cancer.
