How can leiomyomas and leiomyosarcomas be differentiated on MRI?

Both leiomyomas and leiomyosarcomas may have a complex appearance with cystic degeneration and hemorrhage.
Usually these masses cannot be distinguished definitively on MRI.
Rapid growth, especially in a postmenopausal patient, is the most specific sign of leiomyosarcoma.
