How is an ultrasound image created?

A particular sector of the body is imaged (swept) by delivering multiple sound waves to the sector and receiving echoes.
The image is created by combining signals from the scanned sector.
The transducer is either mechanically steered to sweep a sector over time (mechanical sector scanner) or electronically steered with the transducer signal delivered in parts
