Describe cross-fused renal ectopia.

The renal parenchyma is absent from the renal fossa on one side. It is found fused to the contralateral kidney, usually to the lower pole. Left to right is more common than right to left. The ureter inserts normally (orthotopic) in the bladder at the trigone.
