How old should a comparison mammogram be?

The comparison mammogram should be at least 2 years older than the current mammogram. Some breast cancers grow slowly; therefore, a change may not be noticeable if the current film is compared with a film that was taken in the previous year. Exams 1 year old may help with specificity.
